Clean Start Fusion 5 to 6

I am planning on doing 2 things:

1. Install of fresh copy of Windows 8.1 ( instead of updrading from my current Windows 7)
2. Install a fresh copy of Fusion 6.

I am currently running Fusion 5 in a bootcamp partition.  Questions:

1. Is bootcamp the preferred way to install Fusion these days? 
2. Would appreciate any tips on how I can move content from my old partition to the new one. I am on Mac 10.8 but planning to upgrade to Mavericks as soon as its out. My bootcamp partition is on a completely separate drive in my mac pro.  Do I create a completely new partition with windows 8.1 with fusion 6 then migrate everything from the old? How?
