I bought my first Mac (a 13in MacBook Pro, retina, 8gb RAM, 250gb ssd) just over a week ago. I have downloaded trial versions of Fusion and Parallels to compare how each runs Windows 8.1 in a virtual machine. I may not use Windows very much, but I was able to buy a copy at a very good price. So far, I'm leaning toward Fusion. The only problem I've noticed is that if I download anything using Windows, the connection seems much slower than if I simply use my OSX. Is that typical, or can I do something about it? One obvious solution is to do all my downloads in OSX. But for convenience's sake, it would be good to know if there is a fix, or if this is typical.
