VMWare Fusion 6.0.2 - Upgrade MacOS on Guest results in unusable VM

Hi Community--

I'm trying to upgrade a MacOS 10.7 guest operating system to MacOS 10.9. I'm able to download from the App store, run the installer, the OS upgrades successfully, but the VM is now unusable. It boots, gets me to the login screen and one of two things happen. Either I get a kernel panic and the VM reboots, OR I get an error message from Fusion saying "VMware Fusion has encountered a problem with this machine and it has shut down." If I choose Ignore, it hangs for a while, and eventually shuts down, restart starts the process over and report has it hang there a long time. I've had this happen on two different setups, a Mac Pro and a MacBook pro, and with two different virtual machines. The VMs themselves were created in Fusion 4, and then upgraded to 6 with no problems.

The setup on both hosts is similar:

VMWare Fusion 6.0.2

MacOS 10.9

Any ideas on how to proceed? I've only had success creating a new VM from scratch, and I'd hate to have to do this 8 or 9 times to upgrade the VM's I'm trying to fix.

Thanks!

Allen
