Since I found no info whether VMware Fusion 6 has been improved over Fusion 5 in respect of Unity to support full retina display resolution, i.e. without pixel doubling/scaling, I just had to test it myself. Sadly there is no improvement (tested with a Fusion 6.0.1 trail version and a Windows 8.1 guest). Image may be NSFW.

The new option in Fusion 6 "Automatically adjust user interface size in Windows" just saves one from setting the dpi/scaling factor in Windows 8.1 manually to the correct value, that's all.
So let's wait for Fusion 7 and hope for the best (after all, Parellels 8 can do it)...
