Host network functionality does not work while Fusion 6.0.2 is running

Using a fresh installation of OS X Mavericks on a older MacBookPro3,1 (17") with builtin Ethernet and Wi-Fi and Fusion 6.0.2, the host network functionality does not work when Fusion is running. A guest OS does not have to be running, just Fusion open. Everything installs correctly, Fusion and Guest OS (Windows 8). Additional troubleshooting steps of manually uninstalling Fusion according to a KB on the subject and reinstalling have made no difference. I have cycled through the available options of NAT and bridged (Ethernet & Wi-Fi) without success. The product as it stand is useless as a virtual host environment if the host has no network functionality, i.e., no Internet, LAN, etc. I'm a seasoned VMware user of Fusion from version 3 up, Workstation 6 up, ESXi 4 up (current lab infrastructure is 5.5).

I am using a recently purchased license of Fusion 6.0.2 specifically to run on Mavericks (should have tried the trial first) so disappointment is high in the Fusion product.

Are there any know capability issues between Mavericks and Fusion 6.0.2? Hopefully Santa is out there and answers how to get this working.

Thanks in advance.
