How can I recover the files, e.g., MSWord, Excel, Publisher, etc. as well as pdf and picture files on my VM if the Virtual Disk.vmdk is missing?

Long story short... somehow the Virtual Disk "Win 7 Pro.vmdk" file got deleted and is now missing. I cannot power up my VM b/c it says that this file was moved or missing. This problem happened during the upgrade to 6.0.2. And during the install of the VMware Tools my Desk Top went funky. The screen went small and the desk icons went large, as if the resolution was reduced.

I freaked and during this installation and thought something was wrong with the install of VMware Tools. So I shut down the VM before the install completed. When I tried to restart it that's when I got the message about the Virtual Disk missing. I could not restore from a backup as the Virtual Disk was also missing in the backup before the 6.0.2 upgrade. I couldn't even restore from a Snapshot...

There is a lot of info on the internet, and even someone says that you can get files by copying them and opening them on a PC (simplified here of course). Here's the web link to - How to steal a virtual machine and its data in 3 easy steps

Any help in either recreating the missing Virtual Machine Disk "Win 7 Pro.vmdk" or getting my files w/o having to fix the problem would be greatly appreciated.
