Hello,
I recently installed VMware Fusion 6 Professional edition on my Macbook Pro running 10.9 Maverick. Next I installed Windows XP and then immediately upgraded to Windows 8.0. When I attempted to access the Internet using Windows 8 I'm unsuccessful. I received the message "no connections are available". How do I remedy this? I experience no issues when accessing the internet from the host OS. I've found various Knowledge Base articles for different setups and attempted some steps but still no resolution.
- Restarted Windows 8 and restarted Maverick
- Ran Windows 8 diagnostics that resulted in: “Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter. If you have a network adapter, you will need to re-install the driver.”
- Windows Firewall – Turned off Private and Public network settings
- Tried changing the VMware network adapter between NAT and bridged (Autodetect and Wi-Fi).
- I noticed something about changing the .vmx file but haven’t tried that step yet.
- I found an article saying Fusion 5 allowed the VM OS type to be updated by accessing “Settings” and selecting “General”, but I can’t find that option in Fusion 6 Pro.
I searched for a KB article regarding my particular setup but didn't find anything. If someone can assist with providing a helpful link to a KB article for my setup or is aware of how to resolve this issue….I'd greatly appreciate it!
