Hi,
I am trying to move my Asus Zenbook (cracked screen) running Win8 64 bit with dual boot inside a VM in a MacBookPro with OsX 10.9.1
I tried to use the "online" migration but I faced several errors related to ownership data and access of network share, so I resorted to use Vmware Vcenter converter standalone 5.5 on my pc.
I logged in with a local admin account, launched the software a create a copy of the physical machine for Vmware fusion 6.x. using all default settings.
I copied it on an external USB NTFS drive and i get two files (vmdk of several gb and vmx of few kb), I connect the NTFS disk (I have Paragon NTFS) and see the disk.
Then on Vmware Fusion I add a new VM, choose Windows 8 64 bit, select custom VM and choose the VMDK file as disk.
When I start the machine, I see that it tries to boot from network, then exit and say "no operating system was found".
I tried to change the startup disk to IDE or SATA from SCSI but even if it asks to me save the settings I always see Scsi
I tried to select the disk as a startup but nothing changs
I used an ISO of systemerescuecd and boot from it and I can actually see my disk and all my data there, so apparently the original copy is correct.
When I access the bios at boot, I see a very old Phoenix Bios (with still hardcoded the 1-39 HD sizes) and I can't see my disks, but I don't know if this is bad or not
can somebody help me? I need to repair the Asus and have the image running inside my mac box to run some specific software and data...
Thaks!
Sergio
