Fusion 4 vmdk failure

I need some help to determine what is the best way to fix a Fusion 4 failure on my macbook pro. I have had some issues with running Fusion 4 on my laptops and I am have been trying to upgrade Windows software when I it started to crash, not allowing me to upgrade or sometimes sign in to Windows. Here is my setup:

I am running VMware Fusion 4.1.4 as with Windows 7 professional on my 13" Macbook Pro (mid-2012). I just recently upgraded to Maverick.

As I try to run VMware Fusion, I receive an error message that reads...

     /Documents/Virtual Machines.localized/Windows 7 x64.vmwarevm/Windows 7 x64-s001.vmdk" failed

Sometimes this will happen as I try to start up windows, or sometimes as I try to run a program within windows.

I have read some other threads that seem to be related to this issue but to be honest I don't truly understand everything that is said. Could someone help me through a step-by-step procedure in fixing this issue.

If it to complicated, I do have the option of uninstalling everything and then reinstalling it, but I would lose all my data. It wouldn't be major loss, but it would be nice to save what I have been working on.

Thanks, Aaron
