Hi there!
I'm running a late 2011 model MBP i7 2,5GHz with 16GB RAM, SSD in the original bay and the HDD (Sata3) in an Optibay-Case where the DVD player used to be. On 10.9.1, I am running Win7 x86 in a Virtual Machine with 1 Core and 2048MB RAM set in VM.
This drains a lot of ressources from my machine and makes the fan always spin at full speed. Activity monitor shows vmware-vmx to be spiking all the way up to 100% ....
Now - I did read some old threads where the 2011/Optibay combination could be the cause. I do have the VM on my SSD, though - not sure whether this makes a difference. I would kindly ask for any recommendations on how to tackle this issue. Worst case scenario would be setting up everything from scratch - just to maybe figure out it's not the software constellation, but much rather the OptiBay / SATA issue. Help, anyone?
Kind regards,
Olli
