Fusion 5 + Macbook Pro w/ Retina = Resolution & DPI Issues in Unity

Longtime Fusion user, first-time message board poster. Having a resolution/DPI problem I'm hoping I can get some help with.

First, a lay of the land:

  • Macbook Pro w/ Retina running Mountain Lion (10.8.1)
  • VMware Fusion 5.0.1
  • Windows 7
  • "Use full resolution for Retina display" enabled in VM settings
  • Custom DPI set to 150%+ (problem occur at anything over 100%)

Here's the issue. With the above settings, things look great in full-screen mode. Fonts are crisp and details sharp.

The problems begin when I make the switch to Unity mode. Basically, appears that Unity mode forces upon the VM its own resolution and DPI mode that don't match what I set in full-screen. If I set them to where things look good in Unity, then those settings are forced upon the full screen mode.

Feel free to disagree with me, but this shouldn't be the expected behavior from my perspective.

My question:

  • How can I get Unity and full-screen modes to play well-together without having to manually reset resolutions & DPIs?

I appreciate any help the VMware community is able to provide.

Regards,
