Unable to create symlinks in a shared folder on OS X guest

Hi

I have host(10.9) and guest(10.8) os as Max OS X and I have shared a folder on the host which I can see in /Volumes/VMware Shared Folders/ on the VM.

But, when I login to VM and try to create a symlink in this folder, it error out saying "Permission denied"

I even tried adding sharedFolder0.followSymlinks = "TRUE" in the .vmx of the VM file. But, I do not see any difference.

I also tried by updating the VMware Fusion to 6.0.3. But, no luck..
