Blue screen and restart on boot

I was getting frequent write errors on my windows 7 vm so followed the instructions on this article:

Now when I start the VM the starting windows screen loads for a minute and get a quick blue screen flash and then reboot.  Going through the startup repair in windows says it can't repair my problem.  Any ideas how to fix this or is the drive completely toast?
