I set up a virtualization of cent OS 6 on my Mac. When I run the virtualization using a bridged network adapter I CAN connect to the samba share. However, when I run the same virtualization using host only mode the same share
(at the new ip address) seems to timeout a.k.a. NEVER connects. I've confirmed that the server is available and is accepting connections via the host only IP range. Samba config is set up to allow access from the host only IP range as well as the Bridged IP range. And of course I can ssh to the virtualization in host only mode. The connection is definitely making it to this on the server services, because when I remove the host only IP range, the samba log indicates that a connection attempt was made from a disallowed IP range.
Can anybody offer some insight on this? I've disabled CentOs security (aka running in permissive mode) and I have disabled the firewall. Neither had any effect. Not sure of the issues on the Mac side or on the Linux server side. I'm setting this up as a development server that I would like to use on the road, host only mode would provide a level of security and accessibility. I suspect that I'm missing something very simple here.
Thank you in advance.
