After many hours of reading and trying to contact support I have got nowhere:
- Microsoft support refuse to help - I am not using a PC
- VMWare email support repeatedly crashes upon sending. Time zones differences mean it is night time in US, afternoon here in Australia
I hope a simple answer is out there in this Community for me.
I have read the forums but can't find a straight answer for this problem of mine:
I have purchased and installed VMWare on my iMac (no optical drive)
I have purchased Microsoft Windows 8 from MS website.
The only option MS has given is to download an .exe installer file that runs in Windows 7 ( I don't have Win7 or any other OS)
VMWare's current video tutorial instructs me to download 'Win8 Preview' .iso from MS website but this is way out of date and no longer on MS site
MS Support refuse to provide me with Win8 as an .iso file (they don't have a copy - yeah right).
I can order a copy on DVD from MS for $20 more but I need it, like, yesterday.
Also I don't have a 2nd mac handy w an optical drive.
I appear to be stuck.
I can download a potentially dodgy Win8 .iso from a torrent site and use my purchased product key.
Is this my best option?
It seems bizarre this isn't a problem for a lot of VMWare users. Am I missing something?
Any help really really appreciated.
