I can't figure out why Lync should present sound issues like it does when running virtualized.
Playing sounds from the 'Sounds' Control panel, everything sounds fine, also the 'Lync' sounds. However, when I open the Lync settings > audio device and play test sounds from there, the sound is all garbled and choppy. This also reflects the sound in a call, it's simply non-functional.
If I connect my headphones (Plantronics USB), connect them to the VM, and select them for Lync audio, sound is fine.
So why should Lync in particular be unable to properly use the virtualized VMWare VMaudio audio device? Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot or correct this issue?
