I searched online for quite a while but couldn't find a solution I understood. I know little of virtual machine technology.
I was in VMware Fusion 6 trying to find a way to reduce the disk space on the virtual hard drive. I screwed things up and restored my earlier Windows 7 x64.vmwarevm to the /Virtual Machines folder on my MacBook Pro Retina. I expected Fusion to be happy with what was a working setup.
When I try to open this file in Fusion 6 I get the following message:
Could not get snapshot information: Failed to lock the file.
Module Snapshot power on failed.
Failed to start the virtual machine.
In Settings / Hard Disk the settings are as they were originally.
Any idea where to go from here? I don't have the data backed up separately.
I'm not on Boot Camp.
