VMWare creates spurious printers that don't work, sets one of them to default

VMware has taken each of my local printers and created a #:1, #:2, etc. version of them, then set the default printer to one of those. When I print to the new default, nothing happens. I need to print to the original printer for it to actually print.

Surprisingly, my network printers and virtual printers (CutePDF, XPS, etc.) are not duplicated.

Example:

HP Officejet 5600 series <-- original, local printer

HP LaserJet 4050 Series <-- another local printer

HP Officejet 5600 series#:1  <-- this one is the new default

HP LaserJet 4050 series#:2

HP Officejet 5600 series#:3

When I set the default to the original printer and delete the spurious printers, when I reboot, the same situation as above is recreated.

Anyone have a resolution to this?

Thank you,

Eric D
