Environment:
27" iMac 3.4 GHz, 32 GB RAM with external 27" Apple Display
OS X Mavericks 10.9.1
Fusion 6.0.2
Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64-bit
Latest VMware Tools
Mouse Driver: VMware Pointing Device, 26/03/2012, Version 12.5.2.0
Problem:
Using mouse look in PC games within VM causes the camera/view to spin uncontrollably making game unplayable
Games work fine if booted to PC using BootCamp
All other mouse functions are normal within game and other applications
Does not seem to be specific to any particular game - happens in EQ2, LOTRO, SWTOR, even new ESO Beta
Changing "Preferences/General/Gaming - auto/never/always optimize mouse for games" has no impact
Rebooted VM Guest OS after every test to ensure settings were taking effect
Workaround:
A second USB mouse exclusively connected to the VM works fine
However adding the following to the VMX config (which allows the second mouse to be claimed exclusively)
usb.generic.allowHID = "TRUE"
usb.generic.allowLastHID = "TRUE"
causes the USB keyboard to be accessible to either the host or guest with very awkward manual toggling which negates most of the advantage of having a VM.
I can tolerate having two mice on my desk, but two keyboards is asking a bit much.
This appears to be a long standing issue with Fusion. Same problem with Fusion 5 under Mountain Lion on a 2011 MacBook Pro
