Assign static IP to guest VM with host VM connected via WiFi

I have a host running OS X 10.10, a guest VM running Windows 8.1 with Update and I my router is a CG3100D-2. I connect my host to the router via a WiFi connection. I connect my guest VM to the network via bridged networking (autodetect).

I would like to be able to assign a static IP to my guest VM. I get the virtual adapter's MAC address and reserve it an IP address at the router. I then configure the adapter in the VM to have the same static IP. However, to the router, the guest VM has the same MAC address as the host and so it is not assigning it the IP.

In my search for an answer, I have read that if the host connects over WiFi the guest VM will get appear to the router to have the MAC address.

Is there a solution to this issue?
