My IP address is skipping between 172.16.43.133 and 172.16.43.132 after suspend/restore

Hi All,

I've got a couple of larger VMs that are large enough that I can only run them. I've gotten into a habit of suspending them when I don't need them, and then restarting fusion and bringing up whatever other VM I need. The reason I restart fusion is that it didn't seem to always clear memory well when I didn't actually exit and restart fusion.

The funny thing that is happening is that the DHCP address I'll have gotten a lease on is 172.16.43.132 and sometimes upon restoring the image, that IP will come back and other times it seems to be restored and the IP is 172.16.43.133. Now, I know that I could just set a static IP and be done with it, but I'd like to figure this out using NAT with DHCP.

I read another post Permanently increase default and max DHCP lease times?  that talked about the DHCP maxes and that made me think that maybe somehow the lease was expiring and it was getting a new IP. I was thinking that I could increase my lease times to something a lot larger like a week or so, but was wondering if that might have other unintended side effects?

Thoughts about the problem and increasing lease time from 30 minutes to 7 days?

Thanks
