The good news: Win 8.1 64bit OEM DVD installed and runs great on Fusion 7 over OS X 10.9.5 on Late 2012 Mac Mini with 2560x1080@60Hz LG 24" monitor,
and Ubuntu 14.04 runs 11% faster Geekbench3 benchmark on Fusion 7, than in Oracle VirtualBox 4.3.16.
The bad news: Was not successful with VirtualBox with Win8.1 DVD that I already paid $84 for (NewEgg), so I have to pay another $70 for Fusion.
Really, I shouldn't complain - the install of Win 8.1 to Fusion 7 was simple, fast, and successful right off, while I wasted around 10 hours trying various things with VirtualBox.
