How can I map a directory on the host to show up as a directory on the client

I'm running Fusion 5.0.3 on Mavericks and a have a windows 7 client on which I write C# (.NET) code.  I want to be able to back up the source code, but not the entire virtual machine.  I'm using Retrospect and what I want is for Retrospect to see the individual and back up only those files that have changed.  I have a share folder so that I can copy from my host to the virtual and vice versa.  It sounds like an ideal mechanism except that Visual Studio recognizes it as a mount point and considers it questionable and only considers files stored locally to be unquestionably OK.   I understand that there is a way that I can map a directory on the virtual to a directory on the host, and it will appear to be local to the host.  Assuming that my understanding is correct, I can't figure out how to create that mapping.  If you've done that before, could please share iyj me the HowTo.

Thanks,
