Recently I started having a curious problem with Remote Desktop (mstsc.exe) on my XP virtual machine: when RDP is in full-screen, hitting Alt+<Tab> sometimes loses the modifier, acting as if I just pressed <Tab>.
The most reliable way to reproduce this is to open two apps and press Alt+<Tab>. If it works as expected, release the keys, hit the <Up> arrow and try again. It almost always fails for me at the second attempt. I can reproduce with two different WinXP VMs (one migrated from PD, another one installed from scratch).
Per
, I found out this happens when you have a Key mapping set up, that involves the Option key (as far as I can tell, Fusion comes with the default Control+Option+Delete mapping), but I’d rather not give up on mappings, since they are very important to my productivity.
Could someone with an XP VM let me know if this is how Fusion supposed to work or is this is just some wonkiness with my setup?
Using Fusion 7.0.1 (2235595) with Mavericks on a late 2013 retina MBP; mstsc version 6.1.7600 (aka “version 7”), XP SP3.
The reason I’m wondering is this: I use Parallels, which also supports mappings, and which worked just fine until recently, when it started suffering from a very similar problem (not just Alt, but also with other modifiers - Shift, Control) and I don't remember installing any updates when this problem started happening. So I guess this might be a problem with my environment, not with Fusion and I’d like a confirmation.
