Hi,
I have a Windows 7 VMWare image (with the latest VMWare tools installed and upgraded to the latest VMWare version). I am also running the latest version of Yosemite. Recently, I wanted to enable more graphics memory for my windows environment (as I had to bring photoshop up in it). I checked the accelerate 3D Graphics under the Display config for that image and set the battery life to specify "Use High Performance Graphics for 3D applications only and set the shared graphics memory to 1024 MB (which it says is recommended).
After I did this, I started occasionally seeing my mac freeze. I'd have the Windows 7 VM up and running full screen (but I'd have swiped over to viewing and working on my mac) and all of a sudden the mac display would freeze. I could move the mouse cursor around, but everything else on the screen was frozen. The only way to get out of this was to cold boot (hold power key down for 10 seconds).
I tired changing the shared graphics memory to 512MB and still had the same problem. Last night, I just turned off the acceleration, so we'll see if this stops the freezes.
I have the following Environment
OS X Yosemite Version 10.10
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013)
Processor 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Startup Disk Macintosh HD
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB
VMware Fusion Professional Version 7.0.1 (2235595)
