Windows Server 2012 VM reports unexpected shutdown following properly initiated shutdown.

Running VMWare Fusion 6.0.5 on a MacBook Pro 17" running OS X Mavericks, 8 GB memory, 1TB Hybrid drive.

After upgrading from Fusion 5 to 6 I've been experiencing the odd behavior that often when I manually shut down my Windows 2012 Server VM (which I use for software development), the next time I start it up, it reports that it shut down unexpectedly, which is not the case. I shut down the VM using the Windows shutdown method. I mark the shutdown as "Planned." I wait until Fusion's black screen with the triangle appears then quit Fusion. I've always done it this way.

Anyway I'm concerned that Fusion is not properly shutting down the virtual machine and at some point I'm going to find I have a corrupted virtual machine that can't be started. I perform regular full backups and use a real time "ghost" mirroring system so I'm not so much concerned that I'll loose important data. I just don't relish the loss of productivity if and when the virtual machine gets corrupted.

Has anyone else had this issue? Any ideas on how to fix this problem?
