USB Keyboard sometimes not responding after sleep

Hi,

I have a MacBook running VMFusion 5.0.5, and the VM has mainly been fine until about a month ago, where the VM will not recognise the keyboard when the MacBook comes out of sleep unless we suspend and then resume the VM. Restarting the machine doesn't change the state, and the only other reference I can find on google to what I'm experiencing pertains to a different version (6.0.2). I've updated the software (It was 5.0.4), reset the SMC, Reset PRAM, updated Mavericks to the latest (I'm not going to Yosemite yet!), repaired disk permissions...

PLEASE HELP!!!
