I upgraded my Mac to OSX Yosemite 10.10. After the upgrade, I could no longer use my Windows 7 VM loaded in VMware Fusion 6.
Error received" Could not open /dev/vmmon: No such file or directory."
I proceeded to upgrade to VMware Fusion 7.0.1. The download and installation were successful. I launched VMware Fusion, which automatically launched my Windows 7 VM. I was able to log in to my Windows 7 VM with my Windows user account. After logging in, a progress window titled "VMware Tools" popped up stating "Please wait while Windows configures VMware Tools".
There was a loud bing sound about 75% of the way through and then the window froze. The bing continues to sound and the Window stays frozen. I cannot get past this screen. All I can do is select command + tab to get back to the Mac OS. Then I am able to quit VMware Fusion, which then suspends my Windows 7 VM.
I have tried rebooting my Mac and relaunching my Windows 7 VM. Each time VMware Fusion attempts to re-activate my suspended Windows 7 VM, brining back to the same screen with the frozen progress bar.
What suggestions might some of you have? Should I reinstalled VMware Fusion? If I deleted and reinstall Fusion, will my VM be lost? Is there a way or key stroke that will kill that frozen window and allow me to relaunch the VM? Any good suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you!
