Hi, good morning,
I'm a programmer in Visual Basic and I use virtualizations to maintain various developing ambients.
I wonted to try new Fusion 7.0.1 (Trial) on Yosemite 10.10.0 (and now 10.10.1) using Win 7/x86 machines with Visual Basic 6.
After upgrading my machines from Fusion 6.0.5 to 7.0.1 (and relative tools) I was not be able to compile any objects of all my projects resident on mac shared folder of my MacBook Pro (but also my iMac).
If i compile a project in local C:\anyfolder of the VMW machine there is no problem.
VB6 return me this error:
Microsoft (R) Incremental Linker Version 6.00.8447
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp 1992-1998. All rights reserved.
CVTRES : fatal error CVT1107: \\vmware-host\Shared Folders\MyJOBS\DBCLIENTI\VBProgets\90020\SPII\aPRIVILEGE\EXT\aPRIVILEGE.OBJ is corrupt
\\vmware-host\Shared Folders\MyJOBS\DBCLIENTI\VBProgets\90020\SPII\aPRIVILEGE\EXT\aPRIVILEGE.OBJ : fatal error LNK1123: failure during conversion to COFF: file invalid or corrupt
It seems that program is unable to write the new file aPRIVILEGE.ocx located in Mac HDD (journaled not cryptographic) but, strange, is able to save the other files of the entire project which stay in the same location.
I try to compile the project in a network folder located in another server and all was fine... That confirmed me that isn't the UNC sherd folder or a network location that cause the problem, but the fact that the project stay in the mac HDD shared.
Now desperate, after a lots of google searches with no results and no solution, I downgraded to Fusion 6.0.5 without downgrading the vmware tools package but problem was still there.
At last I've uninstalled VMW Tool reinstalling the correct version for Fusion 6.0.5 and voilà, PROBLEM DISAPPEARED!!
Conclusion: there is something wrong in new VMW Tools for Fusion 7.0.1 referring the access of the shared folder in the local Mac hdd by some windows application.
Now, in the iMac I've with Fusion 7.0.1 I will try to uninstall the new Tools to understand if problem doesn't arise, so cause is effective to indagate in the 7 tools.
I reported this issue for all programmer that use Fusion and wont to upgrade to new 7.0.1.
Thank you.
