Setting that flag to "Always" is a desperate solution when you really need it on a specific virtual machine, because the downsides of manually having to ungrab the mouse to return to the host computer is a real pain. So, how has that setting been put into the global VMWare preferences? Is there any way to enable it only for a virtual machine? I have an OSX virtual machine with mouse problems and I need to enable that setting for that machine, but I don't want it to be enabled for all my other virtual machines.
