I'm just migrating a special image and I've to do some kind or reverse engineering how the old image works. I can't just upgrade the current vmware image because of an upgrade of Win 8.1 standard OEM to Win 8.1 Pro with Enterprise MAK (not just installing a pro pack). You can't just change the Key to migrate to a Pro Enterprise Win 8.1 you need to reinstall it - starting from scratch.
The image uses a shortcut "cases" (nor a drive letter) which seems to point to a vdmk defined in the VMWARE (tow volumes are defined in Vmware fusion, 100 GB with C: and 100 GB seems to point to cases under C:). The disk mount utility is not installed on the current image. How to figure out how the link was established?
Cases is mounted as a volume in diskmgmt.msc and is noted in kkey_users/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/Mountpoints2/CPC/LocalMof as C:\cases
