system resources needed to connect to ESXI host

I currently have a Mac Mini running Fusion 7 Pro. This is also my primary machine and I am looking at getting a Mac laptop. My question is this-If I were to turn my Mac Mini into an ESXI server (most likely just creating an ESXI VM and migrating the VMs to it), would it matter what type of Mac I use to connect to it? In other words, If I assign all the RAM, Storage and resources to the ESXI VM that I can on the Mac Mini, could I then use a less powerful laptop (such as a Macbook Air or a dual core Macbook Pro), install Fusion 7 Pro and connect to the ESXI host and not have to worry about the resources on the machine I am using to connect to ESXI?

Thanks!
