Shift key in windows games

Hi all,

I'm trying to get shift working in directx games under vmware fusion.  I go into the key remapping parts of multiple games and when I try and use the shift key it just looks at me blankly like no key has been pressed.  I've tried turning off all the key mappings to no avail.

Surely there must be some way to get shift key to get passed down to DirectInput?  Thats a seriously annoying problem if I can't.

Any advice or suggestions?

PS I have VMWare 7.1.0 running a Windows 7x x64 host system.
