Hi Everyone,
Just wondering if anyone else is encountering a similar issue to me, where booting up the Windows 10 Technical Preview via Boot Camp in VMWare Fusion 7 causes the display to freeze as if the computer isn't responding to input? What's weird about this issue is that it doesn't seem like the system completely locks up as I can see the mouse cursor moving & no kernel panics or other things pop up that indicate that the system has come to a halt.
For a little bit of background about the issue I'm experiencing, there seemed to be an issue with OS X Yosemite(10.10 & 10.10.x) that caused a similar graphics freezing issue when the automatic graphics switching was enabled on the most recent MacBook Pro 2013 & 2014 models. The fix to this issue, which occurred in OS X Yosemite, was to disable graphics switching. I don't know if this issue was completely fixed in 10.10.2 but I don't see it occurring unless I launch Windows 10 in VMWare Fusion 7.
Here is some detailed information about the platform(s) I'm running & encountering this issue:
MacBook Pro(Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013)
16GB RAM, 1TB SSD
OS X Yosemite 10.10.2
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048MB
**Graphics switching is currently enabled, which causes the graphics freeze when Windows 10 is launched via VMWare Fusion 7.
VMware Fusion Pro 7.1.1
Windows 10 Technical Preview - Build 9926(installed via Boot Camp)
2 Processor Cores, 8192MB RAM dedicated to VM
One thing I'm going to try is disabling the graphics switching from OS X Yosemite to see if I continue to encounter the graphics freezing issue after launching Windows 10. Aside from that, I'm running the latest drivers on the Windows 10 side & am not aware of any other outstanding issues that are causing issues in OS X.
Don't know if anybody has encountered a similar issue, but are there any suggestions or help or advice? If more info is needed, please let me know so I can provide it.
