I use VM fusion with windows xp to run Quicken. That's all. Everything else I do from the MAC side. I have to upgrade my quicken 2010 in order to use the download services and have purchased Q 2013. I confess my son who lives out of town set the virtual machine up and installed Q 2010 when I first got the MAC. Even if I had done it, I would no longer remember the process after nearly 4 years. I'm old. But he's not here and I want to install the new program now. I have MAC snow leopard, fusion 2.8, and XP home. I see that you are up to version 5, but also that I would have to buy a new version of windows to use it... And I don't think I want Lion on this 2009 IMAC either. Quicken 2013 says it will run under xp and that's what I want for now. I figure in a couple of years, I'll be ready for a new MAC with whatever os is current, and I'll deal with the quicken/MAC issue then. Who knows, maybe by then there will be a decent MAC financial program.
I guess my question is how do I install quicken from a dvd. Do I need to upgrade Fusion? What I have works fine with Q 2010 and Explorer and AVG, and I'm not one to automatically want or need the newest latest greatest stuff. I do install the Windows security updates. My experience tells me every upgrade or new version costs me time spent learning rather than actually getting some work done. If it ain't broke, don't fix it is our family motto.
I know this is really basic stuff. Maybe there is another place to ask, but I couldn't find it.
