Expected harm from upgrade without Windows only suspended when quit? New OS, can't go back.

Why I didn't foresee this . . . too lazy to wait for Windows to Shutdown?  I suspended my XP OS (though applications closed) instead of performing a ShutDown.  Then when I updated from OS10.6.8  to Mavericks, I realized I couldn't run Fusion 4 in Mavericks, of course.  So I can't start it up to perform a shutdown.  Installing Fusion 6 comes with the warning that doing an upgrade without the virtual machine "shutdown" may cause data corruption.

Does anyone have experience with what might happen?  If it's really bad, any solutions before I try it.

My solutions:

1) Boot up from my clone drive and at least make sure I backup important files in Windows on another computer.

2) Take my clone and rewrite my entire hard drive with it's contents again and start all over with the Mavericks install.  (Though I just download Fusion 6 and will have to download that again too, but haven't done much else.)

3) Go ahead and install Fusion 6 and see what happens.  If good the virtual machine will act as if it lost power, but none the worse.  If bad, go back to solution #2.

Any further suggestions?  In case I have to do solution#2, I don't want to do too much new work or new installations.  So I should decide soon.

Thanks.
