What network adapter settings should be disabled/enabled for best network performance?
I currently show the following enabled:
- Client for Microsoft Networks
- File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks
- QoS Packet Scheduler
- Reliable Multicast Protocol
- Link-Layer Topology Discovery Responder
- Link-Layer Topology Discovery Mapper I/O Driver
- Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPV6)
- Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPV4)
My assumption is all of these (excluding IPV4) could be disabled if they are not required. This VM is used in a corporate environment, so it does need access to AD authentication and such, but its just a normal Widows 8.1 virtual machine. Also, in the Intel 82574L Gigabit Network Connection properties, what features should be enabled/disabled and values set? I looked all over for the best practices on this, but found nothing.
