Fusion 7 issues

On a completely new macbook 2014 retina (mid 2014) with Mavericks I have installed Fusion 7 running Windows 7 SP1 (bootcamp).

Everything is installed from scratch - i.e. no legacy settings etc.

I am experiencing several issues, that seems to relate to fusion 7 (I have used fusion 4 and 5 on older machines before without these problems).

I might have to issue a bug report, but will start here.

Are some of you experienceing this too, and other problems?

Hoping for a fix in 7.0.1!!!

  1. Sleep Wakeup failures. This is the most serious problem. I was having Wake from sleep panics almost every time I woke the mac until I saw this: Fusion 6.0.2 and OSx Mavericks 10.9.1 - Sleep Wake failure unless I shutdown or suspend my Win7Pro VM before closing lid. Why do we have to set an obscure advanced option to prevent the mac from crashing on wake up, and what does it actually mean??? At least checking the option seems to have cured the wake from sleep crashes.
  2. Fan issues - vmnet-natd. I am using NAT networking. However, I have experienced the process vmnet-natd to take up 100% CPU and causing fans to run full speed on my new powerful mac. Seems to be an old bug, that may have been reintroduced? vmnet-natd uses 100% of one CPU core. Sometimes fixed by using bridged (automatic), but I prefer NAT.
  3. Application menu not showing consistently and cursor jumps. See Re: VMWare Fusion 7 - How do I make the menu pop up every time?
  4. Cannot type backslash on a danish keyboard. Probably this bug: Vmware Fusion 7.0 issue backslash. I know of workarounds, but frankly I just switch to TextEdit on mac, type the backslash and copy/paste it into windows. Lame but works...
  5. Problem with very small windows fonts on Retina display. Related to Fusion 7 Retina Screen Resolution Question, I found "Automatically adjust user interface size in the virtual machine" not to work properly. I needed to adjust the font sizes in Windows to 200% and disable "Automatically adjust user interface size in the virtual machine" in Fusion. Works reasonably, but with some exceptions (e.g. the windows logon screen).

I am sure there are other problems, seems like 7.0.0 was released a bit too fast?

Please VMWare, fix these issues!
