I have VM 7 installed on an iMac Retina to run Windows 7 Pro for the sole purpose of running SolidWorks. This is a new and first time install and has been largely successful. Took a lot of messing around with the display settings, (in both OSs) and a telecon with support, but the results are now at least satisfactory. Windows does not look as good as native Mac apps, (which are amazing), sadly, but at least I am now in a Mac centric environment for the rest of my business needs.
I had overlooked the issue of virus protection and decided to turn on Windows Defender. Won't load. After a while a memory error is returned. On one attempt the Defender window came up and I started downloading updated definitions, but the same message came up after completing the definition download.
Is this a known issue? Do I really need virus protection for this VM? I don't do email or browsing from Windows. Just SolidWorks, (and a few engineering apps).
Probably a newbie question, but I would still appreciate any feedback.
Thanks
