I have a SDXC card (PNY StoreEdge 128 GB, exFAT file system) configured as a shared folder in a Windows 8.1 VM on Fusion 7.1 on a MacBook Air with OS X Yosemite (10.10.2).
When I read and write files in Explorer everything goes well. There is also no problem when using other programs to open files on the card.
However, when a program (e.g. Excel) has opened a file on the SDXC card the problems begin:
- save as... is impossible. First a message pops up saying that the file already exists and the possibility to overwrite it. When you click "yes", you get the response "Document not saved". A normal "save" is possible.
- when the program needs to create additional files in the same folder, it is not possible and the program quits.
- when you try to create a new file in the folder with the openend file using the right mouse knob, the message "Could not find the item. This is no longer located in <%3 NULL:OpText>. Verify the items location and try again." comes up and the file is not created.
- copying a file to the folder with the openend file gives the message "Could not find the item. This is no longer located in Z:/StoreEdge. Verify the item's location an try again." Try again leads to the same message, so you need to cancel the operation.
As you can imagine this makes using the SDXC card as a shared folder of little use. I have no problems with shared folders that resides on my hard disk.
Does anyone know if this can be solved.
Regards, Frank.
