I am on OSX 10.9.5 and planning to upgrade to Yosemite. I am also on VMWare Fusion 5 and planning to upgrade to 7. To complicate things, I think my VMfusion install was done through bootcamp ( so VM installation files are in a different non stand location ). I am planning to change all that and just do a standard VMWare install with this upgrade to 7.
Questions:
Thanks
I have a very strange problem. I've been running an Ubuntu 14.04 VM on my MBP under VMware Fusion for quite some time. I re-installed Yosemite over the weekend for a clean install to try to fix some issues I was having. I've now got my Ubuntu VM back up and running. Everything is fine except that I can't hit the web server on the VM any more.
I can access the VM in a variety of different ways!
When I do a port scan of the VM, I get this:
Port Scan has started…
Port Scanning host: 10.39.186.13
Open TCP Port: 22 ssh

Port 80 doesn't even show there. From the VM itself, I can access the site through port 80:

I've tried switching between NAT and bridged networking (I know that I had it working with NAT before, but I'm willing to try anything at this point).
I am on OS X 10.10.3 and the latest and greatest VMware Fusion 7.1.2. Any ideas on how to get this working would be greatly appreciated!
Hi,
after updating vmware to v.7.1.2 from v7.1.1 and vmware tools to the latest version 9.9.3 I'm facing several issues (hanging, hour glass for minutes) espacially when accessing file system on host and guest OS, both effected. De- and re-installation of tools doesn't helped.
I have another VM running on v7.1.2 with tools v9.9.2 without any problem.
Now I would like to know how to downgrade tools version. Any idea?

How know if my Mac runs Win 10 pro in Fusion VM…? Fusion Pro buy is 3 licenses? Run on Lion OS X 10.7.4…but is Late 2006 model Mac Book Pro?
Hello!
First time poster here.
I did a search to see if i could find information about this issue but couldn't find anything.
The problem is as the subject says. The Pointer flickers between the host cursor (OS X 10.10.3) and the guest OS (Windows 7). It only happens when the cursor is moved, and it's highly annoying. No difference if i run in unity mode, single window mode or full screen. The system is an MBP Retina 13, Mid 2014. Anyone experienced this issue that knows how to fix it?
I have VMware Fusion 6.0.1 for Mac
What is mean it popup message ?
Summary:
I'm having problems running Windows XP SP2 under Fusion. Everything works with Fusion 7.1.1, but I get constant BSODs with Fusion 7.1.2.
Details:
I have some software I use locally and don't care if XP is insecure since I don't let it out to the Internet. Here's what I've done to test and debug:
1) I installed Fusion 7.1.1 from .dmg. I'm on OS X 10.8.5 on a Macbook Pro with 8 GB RAM.
2) I installed XP Pro SP2 full retail copy from DVD. activated (via the internet). Works fine. My software works.
3) After XP activation, I switch my VM network to "private to my Mac" to keep XP away from the Internet
4) Fusion offers me 7.1.2 update
5) I shutdown my VM. I allow Fusion to update itself to 7.1.2
6) when I restart XP, Fusion automatically updates VMware tools
7) everything goes haywire
8) XP gets repeated BSODs and reboots sometimes as quickly as within 20 seconds, even just as I'm logging in
9) the BSOD error is STOP c000021a with a status of 0xc0000005 (sorry I should have taken a screenshot but didn't)
10) what can I do???
More information:
11) I deleted Fusion, including Preferences, Application, Library, etc. I reloaded 7.1.1. Everything works again. This is with a saved copy of my XP VM which I installed under 7.1.1, not with the VM that had 7.1.2 VMware tools installed.
12) I allow update to 7.1.2, XP starts getting BSODs again
13) I'm back on 7.1.1 and don't want to go to 7.1.2 again just to get a screen cap of BSOD. There is apparently no way to keep 7.1.1 and 7.1.2 on the computer simultaneously.
Anyone else having problems with 7.1.2?
Fusion only supports XP SP3 (although Workstation supports XP SP2). I don't want to go to SP3 because I don't want all the hassles of enabling XP out to the Internet to do its "windows genuine advantage" periodic checkin with Microsoft. Like I said earlier, my software doesn't need the internet so I don't want to let XP out to the Internet. I simply use a shared folder to move data back and forth between OS X and XP.
Am I making a mistake trying to stick with XP SP2? Am I fighting a losing battle?
Should I move my computer to OS X 10.9 or 10.10? Is there a chance that would help?
Thanks for any help or suggestions.
I am looking to see if it is possible to open a Fusion Virtual Machine Image on my PC. My PC at home is much more powerful than my MacBook Pro so I am looking to see if I can open my Fusion Virtual Machine image of Window 8 on my PC when I am home. My image is on a portable HDD so I would be awesome to be able to move back and forth between my MacBook at work and then my PC while at home.
Thank you in advance.
Jeremy
I have been researching this issue for a good part of the morning and have not come across a similar issue but hoping the forum can help?
I have a user that is working in Unity mode and using Outlook 2010. Each time a new email comes in, Outlook launches the new message automatically and takes up the whole screen. This is a problem if he is working on a project and has to hide the new email or X out everytime he receives on. Is there a setting within Fusion that is an option possibly that needs to be deactivated?
Thank you in advance.
Running Windows 7 64-bit
VM Fusion 7.1.1
I have Macbook Air 13-inch, Mid 2013 and I am running Fusion Professional Version 6.0.2 (1398658). The VM is running Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit. The Mac OSX version is 10.9.1 (Mavericks). VMware Tools are install and up to date.
When I start the VM the clock is correct. I usually leave the laptop running and when I step away and it goes to sleep, the clock on the VM is behind what appears to be the time it has been asleep.
I had this same set-up on MacBook Pro 17-in (I think this one was mid/late 2011) and I did not have this problem. That one too was left on and would sleep but the clock would sync back up when it came out of sleep.
I know the MacBook Air has the latest Intel processor (i7 in my case), so I didn't know if that might have something to do with how the clock works.
Anyone else seen this issue and if so, were you able to change a setting to get the clock to sync when you come out of sleep?
for as long as i can remember, clipboard syncing of the OSX clipboard to my XP vm's clipboard has been erratic. i made a Screen Recording demonstrating the clipboards being out of sync and attached it. i had to uselessly zip it because .mov files aren't are disallowed. i can get this to happen by just trying to copy text in the OSX host a number of times. eventually i'll hit the issue. i must be losing some kind of race, occasionally. i can't even file an online support request to report this defect without purchasing a support incident. https://www.vmware.com/support/policies/defect.htmlsays "If you do not have an active support agreement and you want to alert us to a product defect, please post the issue to the appropriate product community on the VMware Technology Network." so here i am.
is the issue vm 7.1.2 instal that damaged windows xp with tools instal been fixed yet just like to know before i install vm 7.1.2 thanks,
Hello VMware,
When I open Fusion 7 and check for updates, the progress window appears at the bottom left corner of the screen. If an update is available, the release notes appear in the bottom left corner of the screen. No matter how many times I move the window, the next time I open Fusion and check for updates it goes back to the bottom left corner of the screen. Since I am using a 30 inch, 2560x1600 monitor, this bottom left positioning looks absolutely awkward and ridiculous. I don't want to keep looking down at the bottom left corner of the screen to read things. Please fix Fusion so the software update progress and release notes appear in the center of the screen.
I seem to have successfully moved the virtual machine to a shared folder and given this folder and all the package contents of my windows 7 virtual machine read and write permissions. Windows 7 will start-up in my other user accounts, however I get the message: Windows cannot access
vmware-host\shared folders\desktop. As it turns out, none of the folders in this folder (
vmware-host)(Z:) are accessible. Any suggestions?
Hi all,
Awaiting the arrival of my first Mac, a new Macbook Pro from Apple.com. As I prefer Office 365 on Windows (until the Beta for 2015 is released; can't install beta software on corporate machines), I need to know if Outlook 365 through Fusion integrates calendar invites etc into the default OS X calendar. Outlook 2011 will natively be installed as well, so worst case I can simply open and close Outlook 2011 to update the native OS X calendar with the exchange server, but I'd rather just ignore Outlook 2011 all together.
Thanks in advance.
Hi
On the Macbook 12" in OS X the default display resolution is 1280x800 (native resolution 2304x1440).
I created a Windows 7 x64 VM in Fusion 7.1.2 (VMware Tools installed) and in the VM's Display Preferences I checked "Use full resolution for Retina display".
In Windows VMware Tools configured a resolution 2560x1600 and set text size to 150%.
With the Fusion retina display setting the Windows VM requires binoculars to use
I've had to disable "Use full resolution for Retina display" to be able to work in Windows.
I guess my question is what is the point of the retina display option for Windows VMs and is there something I'm missing in my configuration that would
allow me to ditch the binoculars?
Thanks.
When the VM option "Share Mac Printers with Windows" is checked, my Mac installed printer is added to Windows and printing works fine.
However, on OS X I have created two printing presets: one of tray 2 and one for tray 3. When I print a document from an OS X app I select
one of those presets from the printing dialogue preset dropdown.
In my Windows 7 VM, I have tried to find a way to configure the thinprint printer to have two presets, but I can't find an option to do this.
I know that if the printer had been installed in the traditional way, e.g. printer driver in Windows that I would have this level of control.
Is there some way to achieve this with the "share mac printers with windows" option or should I uncheck this option and install the printer directly in Windows?
Thanks.
Hi,
I use vmplayer on windows quite often. On Window when I don't have an active network adapter, I normally create a loopback adapter which I assign an IP address to. I then assign an IP address to my VM(s) in the same range of the IP address I gave to my loopback adapter. This then allows my VM to communicate with the Host and one another over IP.
I am looking to do the same on OSX. However after doing some research online I can't seem to find a way to create a loop back adapter, can anyone point me in the right direction or have I missed something?
Remember I am looking to do this when I don't have any of my network adapters active e.g. when my ethernet and wifi have been disabled on my mac
thanks
Hi everyone,

I tried install Fusion 7 Pro at mac 10.11 (DP2) to create a virtual machine via bootcamp.
Finally, it's failed....
