Hi guys
i have a late 2013 27'' iMac i5 3.2GHz w/ 24GB of RAM. It runs Mountain Lion 10.8.5 & haven't upgraded to Mavericks because it will automatically "upgrade" my iTunes 10.7 to iTunes 11 which i HATE !
Since we all more or less resist change, i gave it a shot for a couple of weeks to check it out & confirm if it was just me being stubborn but ended up ''downgrading'' back to 10.7....
Being an artist, I'm a very visual person & LOVE browsing through my music looking at my album covers set at 2.5'' X 2.5'' thumbnail size & since i have a 27'' iMac + a 21'' monitor i have the real estate to do so ! Plus iTunes 11 doesn't really provide for Artist's stacks so browsing through it implies A LOT of VERY BORING scrolling & reading titles since i have MANY artists whom i have 10, 20, 40, 60 albums all the way up to 190 albums ( Mozart.. ) examples of what i just wrote :
My favourite 10.7 - displaying in Artist mode & not too many artists w/ LOTS of albums in their stacks here...
My dreaded iTunes 11 also displaying in Artist mode - pesky centre column of 12mm X 12mm Artist stack thumbnails to browse through or… lots of titles to read + it doesn't allow to alter thumbnail size
By the way, my iTunes library is kept on an external enclosure with multiple drives which can connect to my iMac either via FW800, FW400, USB2 or USB3 - presently it uses the USB3
Since i WANT to upgrade to Mavericks WITHOUT the ''privilege'' of being forced to use iTunes11 EXCEPT for syncing my iPhone 5 ( ever since i bought it, i've done said syncing using a Mavericks/iTunes 11 install on an external drive but it's NOT practical really.. ) & following a friend's suggestion, i installed VMWare Fusion 7 Pro, created a Virtual machine w/ Mountain Lion 10.8.5 + it's iTunes 10.7 installed & it works except i can't seem to make iTunes access the external enclosure where i keep my music library via iTunes Preferences pane as shown below
I tried finding an answer to this here & w/ Google but for whatever reason didn't manage to - so….
Nº1 - does anyone know how to achieve this ?
nº2 - does anyone know if later i will be able to upgrade my iMac's OS to Mavericks AND retain my Mountain Lion/iTunes 10.7 virtual machine running smoothly under it ? I DON'T mind AT ALL if i have to run it ''isolated'' from the web & don't install ANY updates to it since ALL i would be using would be iTunes 10.7 !
Any suggestions, links or pointers to this WILL BE most appreciated, many thanks for your patience
Regards
Nuno
