I purchased an iMac a few months ago with Fusion Pro 8.5.8 installed.Everything was fine until I upgraded the OS to High Sierra.I then decided I would upgrade to Fusion 10 but was told I could not because my License key for 8.5.8 was not recognised by the VMWare database.I have had good service from the VMWare support team but I would like to know what happened.

Anyone else had this problem?

Upgrading to macOS High Sierra on a MacBook Air

Hello,

I currently have macOS Sierra on a 2015 MacBook Air with VMware Fusion version 8.5 running Windows 10 from a BootCamp partition on the internal SSD hard drive.

From what I understand, if I upgrade macOS to High Sierra I will need to upgrade VMware Fusion to v10 - but will I be able to use the BootCamp partition on an SSD hard drive? I read that the High Sierra upgrade will require updating the SSD to the new Apple File System with no option to avoid. Do the instructions in this KB article ( https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2151780 ) still apply for this case?

Thank you for any help,

Zaron B

Fusion 10 breaks bluetooth on macbook

If I close Fusion (after I've been using Windows XP VM for example), sometimes I lose bluetooth. It is lost entirely... bluetooth icon at the right side of my macbook's menu bar says "Bluetooth not available". It will not come back until I restart macos. This is Fusion Pro 10.0.1 on High Sierra supplemental update. It's a real nuissance because I use my macbook in clamshell mode with bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Can't use them without bluetooth.

Bad or no network connection VMware Fusion Windows Server 2016

Hi,

I kinda new to this virtual machine tech, and was thinking to setup and Windows Server 2016. My problem is that when I have installed the server and setting up my network connection everything is working great for about an hour. Then the network connection is really slow or I will get "connection reset" failure in Google Chrome. There is no better results in Internet Explorer.

The virtual machine network card is bridged with my Mac and has a static IP. I can ping www.google.com, DNS 8.8.8.8, and other local computers on LAN. But when I try to go to any webpages I will get "connection reset" failure. When opening adapter status I can see that "Sent" and "Recevied" is counting sometimes. When troubleshooting Windows can't find anything to be wrong, and it says to have internet.

I was unsure if I has setup the static IP wrong, so I added a network card that was shared with the Mac. This also worked for a short time, before I ended up with having "Unidentified network" and "No internet access".

The Mac(Host) is connected to the router through Wifi, and the internet is working great on this one. It is only inside the virtual machines I have this problem. The other physical computers on LAN network is also working great both with DHCP and Static IP. I was able to update all drivers before this happened so this is up to date. I have reinstalled a couple of times, and the same thing happens. I have also tried to reinstall VMware Fusion with no luck. This is a Fusion 8 product.

No internet access in Windows10 when NAT option chosen

Hello Team,

I have been struggling with configuring my MAC and VMware Fusion to have an internet access in Windows 10 Vitual Machine. It doesn't work when "NAT" option is chosen... What could be the potential issue here? Could anyone help me? I can provide necessary logs.

So far, I have reviewed all "NAT" related topics and articles but I was not able to find a solution. Important thing is that it has never worked. I have Windows 7 VM earlier and had the same issue.

I have the feeling there is some misconfiguration on my MAC but I don't know how to fix it.

Thank you in advance for help.

Regards,

Lukasz

The Boot Camp volume is not prepared to run as a virtual machine.

Hello.

I'm trying to create a Boot Camp VM, but get the following error:

The Boot Camp volume is not prepared to run as a virtual machine. It appears that Windows did not shut down cleanly the last time it was used.

To shut down Windows cleanly, go to System Preferences > Startup Disk and set Windows as the startup operating

I have High Sierra 10.13.2, VMware Fusion 10.1.1 and windows 10 installed via Boot Camp. System integrity protection is disabled. Windows boots normally from startup selection screen. Windows was shut down cleanly.

Hi,

I got a nic :

Chelsio 10GB 2-Ports PCI-e Opt Card (Proprietary Bracket) PCI-E 110-1088-30

Since esxi 6.x couldn't attach it.. i figured out there is no driver.. i searched the net and found only a driver for 5 here:

VMware vSphere 5: Private Cloud Computing, Server and Data Center Virtualization

My question is: is it possible to update the driver to be used in 6.x ? or better is there any driver for 6.x?

Thanks in advance,

Sami

Keyboard not working after migration of Windows 10 with VMware Fusion 10

I upgraded to VMware Fusion 10 and migrated a Windows 10 Professional installation to my Macbook Pro 13" Retina.  The migration completed but when I tried to type in the password nothing worked.  I had to use the sticky onscreen keyboard.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the VMware Tools.  I deleted the device and reinstalled VMware tools and still does not recognize.  There is the yellow error icon on the PS/2 keyboard. There are also two other errors on the device manager, mouse and the multi audio device.

Not being able to type makes this version useless.  I am hoping for a quick response, or I will back date and try to use 8.  If this fails, I will try to use Parallels.

Create MacOS 10.9 VM from a Macbook Air

$

Hello,

I have Fusion installed on High Sierra and another Macbook Air running 10.9.  I would like to run the OS (with all the software and data) from the Macbook Air as a VM in Fusion on High Sierra. Is there a way to create a VM from Macbook Air 10.9? I could use CCC to copy the OS 10.9 to an external HDD if required, and then import from there?

Thanks.

Fusion 8.5 - macOS Sierra 10.12 (GM) - MacBook Pro Camera Malfunction

I was waiting to report this until both Fusion 8.5 and the Sierra golden master were out, but the problem persists.

I have a Mid 2012 Retina MacBook Pro with a built-in FaceTime HD Camera (UVC Camera VendorID_1452 ProductID_34064).

After I start a virtual machine the camera cannot be turned on by any other application (FaceTime, Photo Booth, Skype).  The camera remains unresponsive even after shutting down virtual machines and quitting Fusion, until I reboot the MacBook.  If another app is using the camera when I start a Fusion VM, the camera continues to work until I close the other app, then it will not reactivate if I restart the other app.

Has anyone else experienced this?  Can anyone suggest a resolution?  I'm happy to provide more information if necessary.  Thanks!

I upgaded my MacBook Pro to MacOS High Sierra, and now I cannot boot my Fusion BootCamp Windows VM.

I have uninstalled, re-installed Fusion several times, and most recently blew out the Windows install altogether and installed Win10LTSBx64. Each time I create a Bootcamp VM, I get the following error when launching. I am running Fusion Professional Version 10.1.1 (7520154).

Any help is greatly appreciated.

How to share USB device without unplugging it all the time?

Fusion 10. Mac OSX 13.2. Windows 10.

I have a USB external solid state drive. Is there a way to switch it back and forth from Mac OSX to Windows without unplugging it and replugging it to generate the "where should I connect" dialog?

I know I can set it up as a shared folder, but I have file paths mapped to it that get wonky on other machines if I do that. The drive is labeled E:\ and that gets lost when I just "share" it as a folder on the shared folders \\vmware-host directory.

Thank you

Axis T8311 Joystick

I am struggling to get Fusion to recognise the Axis T8311, a USB 2.0 joystick manufactured by Axis Communications. I can see the device on the USB tree on my Mac (High Sierra) in System Information, but I cannot see it in the list of available USB devices to connect in Fusion prior to booting up the Windows VM or after booting it. I have tried following all the debugging suggestions, quirks, etc. Other joystick gaming controller devices do appear.

It seems to be a problem with Fusion not seeing it, so that it can offer it up to the Windows VM. Any suggestions?

USB Devices not mounting - Fusion 8.5.7 + High Sierra

I am running the beta High Sierra on my MacBook Pro (10.12.6 Beta (16G18a)) and Fusion 8.5.7. Since upgrading the High Sierra, I am no longer able to mount USB devices to my VMs inside of Fusion. I get a driver error and device remains mounted to the host.

1) Can anyone else confirm this is a know issue with 10.12.6 and Fusion?

2) Any workarounds/fixes?

Thanks

Aaron

Keyboard does not work in windows 10 guest

Hello,

A newbie to mac but a long time windows user, so please feel free to be as technical as possible. After more than 10 years on windows, finally decided to pull the plug and switch over completely to a mac. Since I had to give away my old windows PC (running windows 10 64-bit), I used the free vcenter coverter to do a P2V conversion of my windows PC. The resultant virtual machine was created as a VMware fusion 8 compatible virtual machine.

The windows VM boots up fine on my macbook running fusion 8 pro (running El Capitan) however, the keyboard does not register in the windows VM itself. Been browsing thru the community, but haven't got any good leads.

Appreciate any quick assistance if possible

Thanks in advance!
